Hello all my stock shocks are blown. I want to pick up a new set of Koni adjustables. I guess these are the yellow ones. What is the difference between the neuspeed/koni short body and short shaft and the standard yellows. Which oens do I want?

All info would be much appreciated.

The differences are based on how Neuspeed has them done up. The standard Koni "yellow" Sport shocks work just fine for our cars. Then again neither are so low that they ride on the bumpstops. The advantage of the Neuspeed unit is that you get 5 perch points versus 2-3. Otherwise, I see no serious difference.

The major difference (besides more snap ring locations on front and rear) is that the shock shaft is shorter (I think 50mm shorter). This means you don't have to worry so much about the shocks bottoming out if your car is lowered. The regular Konis will very often (and I mean VERY often) bottom out when you car is lowered more than 2".... So, there is definitely a good reason to get the neuspeed ones.

On the other hand, there is a new cool part sold by ground control that mounts the upper shock shaft bolt higher than stock, essentially allowing more bump travel before you bottom your shock out. http://www.ground-control.com/gchoncatnew.htm
They say it's only for Ground Control coil-over kits, but i'm thinking it'll work with other kits too.

I just put those ground control top hat on my car. Looking at the top of the shock and the bump rubber you could tell it was bottoming quite frequently even though I have 375In/lb springs and have it lowered only ~1.75inches

Neuspeed has SP3s made for 88-00 Civic, Del Slo, CRX front and 89-00 Civic, Del Slo, CRX rear, 90-02 Accord F&R, 92-01 Prelude F&R, 94-01 Integra.

Neuspeed SP3s: 5 circlip grooves on each (2 above stock, stock and 2 below stock), 20 mm of droop limiter meaning the rod sticks out less at max length thereby likely keeping more preload on many lowering springs and helping keep them in position at max length, the valving is the same, the body length is the same, the bottoming opportunities are the same as Sport.

Sport: front normally have 2 groove locations (stock and lower) and the rear have three (raised, stock, lower), droop length is quite close to stock, valving, body length and bottoming opportunity are the same as SP3.

Trust me, this is the exact situation and disregard other things that you might have seen or heard that don't agree.
