Hey all,
I think this LSD is causing an issue.
We put this ITR swap into an EK, and it drove ok except that when you turned and accelerated, the car would jerk almost like it had a nearly broken axel and it would do it if you were turning right or left. I thought it was either the axels or diff. (mounts are good)
We didn't know that the tranny had a clutch type LSD, so we were using Honda MTF in it. We only drove the car around the block literally a few times, then we changed the axels on both sides to see if that might be it thinking it's the easiest thing to check and drove it one more time around the block, and it was not the axels.
So, we pulled the tranny and found this diff. Would the fluid cause an issue with that short period of use?
Thinking it might need a rebuild or something. Anyway I can check?
Can someone help me identify it? Here are some pics.

Thanks in advance all!

Looks like a Kaaz to me! Mine looks just like that. And if you use Honda MTF with it, then it will chatter like the car is going to fall apart when you turn with power. Even with good fluid I still get some chatter with mine when turning real sharp like in a parking lot. However, I'm willing to bet you didn't hurt the LSD at all with the Honda MTF.
You can try the Kaaz MTF, but it's not cheap. I have had good luck using AMSOIL severe gear extreme pressure 75w-90 gear oil in mine.

If it still chatters like a ****, you can also try some of this:

Clutch type LSD chatter just like you experienced and it is normall. Honda MTF will do just fine with the LSD. no need to use special oil since syncro goes bad sooner with heavier oil (this may not be true for everyone, but it happend to me).
Congratuation on your win (setup), very pleased to see HC driver takes the win. It really is good for our reputation.

I'm not talking about a little jerk guys, it felt like it was going to rip the mounts right out of the car. It was a pretty abrupt jerk! I'd be very surprised if it was normal...
So, you guys think it's the oil?
Could that cause it to be an even more violent jerk?

Yes it will. It will act like the motor is going to rip off the mounts and fly out the hood!!

Jeremy,
a really bad jerk like the axle about to break most likely is not caused by the fluid. Using Kaaz, or ATS fluids will eliminate most chatter, but I don't think this is the case.
We had a couple problem like this on Kaaz before, which was caused by broken or sticking discs.
My last trip at Willow Springs ended early because of this issue as well. But we found out that part of the tranny broke and lodged itself onto the ramp of the LSD causing it to lock all the time.
A quick check in the static lock torque can tell a lot. Since the LSD is out of the car, you will have to rig a tool to test this. Give me a call, as it will be lengthy trying to explain it here.
