AutoPower Roll Bar - lining it up
Hi All,
I'm in the process of lining up the an AutoPower Race Roll Bar in my EK hatch, and i just had a quick question about the lower foot mounting point.
I've heard that the bar should be lined up with the B-pillar as much as possible, AND i've heard (and seen) others always mounting it as far back as possible.. Is it OK to mount this as in the picture below or should i push the bar back as far as it goes (few more layers of sheet metal if i go all the way back).
My finger is pointing to as far as it could go back, but the bar currently sits about 1.5-2" in front. Should be OK either way, but just wanted to check with others before drilling.
Thanks in advance.

Re: AutoPower Roll Bar - lining it up
Hi,
I've installed a few of those into EK. The position is usually pretty natural. Install both tube of the rear section and let the bar sit as it should, and it should be pretty obvious where it belongs. In my memory, it isn't perfectly in the corner, but maybe an inch of it, forward direction. The combination of the main hoop with the rear section should sit perfectly flat at the base plates.
I always reinforce the floor where the roll bar will sit...think 7x7, welded, solid gauge metal sheet, on which the original base plate will bolt. This is one of the few cons of an autopower roll bar...the base plate are too small. Think can-opener with your floor board * 2000- chassis...
good luck
