Default .81" wilwood dynapro caliper with .35" rotors?

from the information i gather there is a maximum the pistons should travel within the caliper that should make this difficult; dynapro lists minimum rotor thickness at .75" and maximum at .83"? for their .81" caliper with 4x1.75" pistons. how does this translate into piston movement?

what if someone made some aluminum spacers in a similar shape of the pads that could keep the pistons in their similar acceptable range but would allow the use of .35" rotors for additional weight saving where suited.

has anyone done this? if not why may it be a bad idea?
