Rust in frame.. help!
Ok so i just payed $1,200 for a paint job on my 1993 del sol.
after looking closely.. on the bottom of the passenger side where the side skirt goes, there is a lot of rust (the metal is literally falling off like wood)
then i started looking for more and when i opened my trunk and pulled out the carpet, there was rust there too, not bad but still.. trouble some.
then when i looked to the passenger side tail lights i noticed there was a chunk of the frame missing because of the rust...
im sure theres more rust in the frame from what i looked at..
just tell me straight out.. did i just waste $1,200 dollars?

more or less. your paintshop are jerks for painting over a rusty car though, but you're also naive for not checking your car for rust before getting it painted.
If the newly painted parts are in danger of getting f'ed up by the rust you need to take it back to the paintshop and whoop their *** for painting over rusty parts and then see if you can make them redo it after you've had the rust fixed.

considering the paint shop clearly could see the problems and painted over it anyway. Its time for you to go back and raise hell. BUT only if that price they quoted you included bodywork, if it was only for paint they should have contacted you about the rust issue but chose not too and that is their fault again. No respectable shop is going to paint over some **** that is obviously rusting out without at least contacting the customer and coming to a resolution, our shop wouldnt anyhow.
I went to the shop today and told them about the problem, once i showed them, the painter actually got fired (lol i was right there) and they told me that they would take care of the rust as best as they could without charging me anything.
They also said that if any of the Already painted work was harmed during the rust fix up, they would also fix that at no charge.
=D sweet
