Restore / re-do blacked out chrome trim
Anyone done this? What are the options for something that will last?
Mine has begun to shrivel up and die in the sun. It definitely isn't paint, but some sort of thicker, rubber coating. Pulling all this trim off is terrifying on its own, so I really want to make sure this is done right and will last a long time.

Ive gone two routes attempting to fix this.
Scrap it all off with a razor blade polish it and leave it chrome
or
Just plasti-dip over it, the more you remove before you dip the more uniform it will come out
That being said i don't really like the end result of either of these. Thinking next time i am going to try bed-liner. Its the closest thing i can think of the the OEM finish and is designed to stay hard and keep its color in full sun.
