Default prepping for new paint

I got in an accident. The other insurance company is paying for it. the body shop i took my car is willing to repaint the entire car if I prep the car myself. They asked that I sand the car down. What grit should I use to strip off the old paint? will the sanding marks show thorugh the new paint?

are you takeing it down to bare metal or just takeing the clear out? dry sand entire car with 320 then wet sand with 400. make sure there is no shiney spots on the car and you will be fine.

Take it to another shop who will prep it for you... Their is a lot to prepping a car than one might think and if insurance is paying for have them pay a body shop to do everything.
