Default Paint vs Replace Windshield

I currently need to replace my windshield and get my car repainted. Which should I do first? I would prefer to paint the car first however I did not know if doing it after would hurt the paint or cause it to chip

replace the windshield first. do u have insurance? my insurance replaced my windshiled for no cost, and no raised premiums or anything because its a safety issue. do that first so you dont get any scratches in your new paint.

if I were you, I would have the body shop take out the current windshield, paint your car, then have a new one put in. If you take it to a reputable body shop, you won't have to worry about it messing up the paint. BUT if you do fear that might happen, tell the body shop that you want it in writing that if they mess up the paint job, they have to fix it for free. My dad owns a body shop, and if we accidentally mess something by something something else, we fix it for free and not worry about it. The paint job would be a lot cleaner by taking out the windshield b/c it's less to tape up and wouldn't have to worry about getting paint/overspray on the rubber seal of the windshield.

I do not trust that any of the shops that I am thinking about would offer to cover any damage done to the paint; this is an autocross only car so I am not spending a lot on the paint job. If I change the windshield first I would have to worry about overspray, if I change it after I have to worry about scratches. I would think the overspray would be move avoidable than the scratches.
