as long as you didnt sand through the clear it will buff out. just be careful buffing and not get it too hot and burn the paint.

when you sand the clear, it will look dull. you buff it to bring the gloss back out

When you sanded it was it the water white or the color of you car? If it was white than your ok, if not and it was the color of the paint you went through.

Water white, I got it fixed, here is what i did, I went to my local paint store and got 1500 grit sand paper. Some 3M rubbing compound, $24 something for a huge bottle. Also picked up a bottle of spray wax. Any wax will do, I already had a 12 Inch buffer. Ok Step 1.) Wet sand the area or whole car, let it dry 2 see any sports missed, then go back and do those. Not pressing 2 hard let it float over with a little pressure, don't go into the paint u get a new paint job.
2.) Put the rubbing compound on the are of attention, Note: only do one section at a time, don't try it all at once, Continue to detail until u think its ready, or until compound dry to a harden state.
4.) wipe excess off with towel
5.) spray on wax and buff than in until harden state as well.
6.) wipe off with towel
7.) wash excess compound wax off trim ext, use a towel of flannel cloth.

I did this because i got over spray from tinting my tail lights on it, for retards SPRAY PAINT ON CAR!

PM me if theres anything i have missed sorry no pics will try 2 get them later
