Can you paint a transmission case HLEP
Well i have a brand new dart block which a new head and a freshly painted engine bay. Now my problem is my transmission looks like crap and just ruins everything. I powerwashed the case and oil has basicalled stained the casing. The transmission is out of the car and I am wondering how I can get it to look BRAND NEW again. What are my options. If i use a wire brush on a drill it might clean it up right? or will it scratch it too much? Can I paint it some kind of silver or a color or will it most likely flake off when it gets hot. WHat are my options? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

well you need to clean off the oil before anything, you can try different product on the market, if the housing is off the car now you can get it hottanked.
there's tons of enemal engine paint in the market, those ultra high temp one needs to be bake/heat treated at a certain temperture.
once it's baked on, they dont flake off unless you wage war with a torch

If the trans is out of the car , take the time to split the case and have them hot tanked. They will look like new.
If you do want to paint, clean the cases with a degreaser and spray with high temp dull aluminum paint. we do it to automatics all the time.
Good luck

whenever I get blocks hot tanked they come back with a scale on the surface. Splitting the cases and having them hot tanked, even if they don't get scaley, sounds like a huge pain in the ***. Just clean/degrease the bitch and use some engine paint (cast aluminum). I've done it before, works out fine.

Re: (melovesboost)
when i did the clutch in the girlfriends car i took the tranny to work degreased it power washed it gave it a dust coat of primer (after a quick scuff with ajax and soapy water with a grey scotch pad) then painted it high heat aluminum color looked like new and pretty bling. that was a year ago and it still looks decent too.
*YES MAKE SURE YOU SEAL THE SHAFT HOLES AND ANYTHING THAT MIGHT SEIZE UP WHEN WASHING IT*
this is my tranny out of my gti swift when i redid it and sold it.
her's looked the same as i did the same thing to the both of them.
