ALSO new to Maryland...Few questions.
I'm moving to Maryland (Aberdeen Proving Ground) and I've heard you guys have some pretty strict emissions testing. Now, I know there is no way to cheaply pass the testing with my car, but I've read that if you spend up to $450 on ways to enhance your emissions, you will receive an emissions waiver. Does this waiver apply for all time or just 2 years? This leads me to my second question.
I need a good place to tune my car. It is a 94 civic Si with jdm B18c, JUNIII cams, RMF header (so no cat, ANOTHER problem, but a fixable one), skunk2 intake mani...worst of all, it is relatively untuned (basemap to just drive and thats it). Pics below. All this seems like just more stuff to hinder my passing of these emissions testing. I will have legal residence in both Kentucky and Maryland, and be living in both (), so I assume I could keep my car registered in Kentucky and just register my other car (that might be able to pass emissions) in Maryland? This is ridiculous, I have buggy that could NEVER pass, so surely there is a waiver for vehicles that are specialty? This is all making me nervous.

Re: ALSO new to Maryland...Few questions.
Good luck bro. I just paid some guy to pass mine for 2 bills last time. Going to do it again, probably have to do the same for smog. I had mine registered in Cali til the day before the tax expired, no one cared. No shops over here that I've seen.

If your car is low enough, they give you a waiver called a "lowrider pass"
So just slam the bishhhh and drive it up there.
Clean car, btw

"lowrider pass"? Are you serious? Around here you're ticketed for being too low. I'll try that if it comes down to it. Honestly though, if I keep it registered in Kentucky, there will be no one to enforce me going to get it tested anyways right? I mean, there are laws forcing you to register it there, but how can they REALLY pull you over for out-of-state tags if they're up to date?

Well definitely update me on how that works out for you, because I'd hate to keep registering in Kentucky all my life when I pretty much live in Maryland only.

Not yet, and not exactly. I can't really go into detail about what I WILL be doing, but I have lived in Kentucky my whole life, and I have been summoned to do some contract work in Aberdeen, MD. I figure that since I will still have legal residency in Kentucky, I can stay registered here and not worry about anything.

I wish I could still do that, but alas...I'm now a "resident" of MD since I got out of the military.
I'm do contract work too.
