Default Problem with HID kit

one of my HID lights went out, so i bought new bulbs.

i just unattached the old bulb from all the sockets, then put the new bulb in its place attached to all the old sockets. i turned on the lights, and the bulb still did not light up.

any suggestions on what to do? thank you

Ballast is gone. I suggest replacing ballasts (and bulbs) in pairs.

To be sure, swap sides on the bulbs and see if the problem stays on the same side. I bet your old bulb will still work on the other side.

If you only bought one new bulb, it will be a different color than your other old bulb.

Ok, I have the same problem, and I'm looking at buying new ballasts. What brand of ballasts would be the best to replace them with? Or does brand make a difference? Just looking for a bit of direction on this.

Ballasts used in OEM applications are usually the best. Philips, Hella, Matsushita, etc. My Philips ballasts are over 7 years old now and have never missed a beat.

It wasn't just the polarity of the socket? Once that had me stumped for a few minutes. Flipped the socket and voila.
