Default HID flicker, what causes it?

got my s2k's headlights working after a long 8 months. but now there's HID flicker..
i swapped back and forth between 3 known-good ballasts using a known-good bulb.
im thinking its a ground problem, so im gonna check that in a second

Describe your flicker? is it at warm up, is it while in motion...?
if it's when turning on/warming up I'd have to think it was a power connection or ground issue as you assume, also I'd check the plug that the bulb sockets into, I had a pnp kit's pin come loose from the socket and the bulb wouldn't wanna fire up atall...

nah i dont think its bulb/ballast problem. i swapped the ballasts back and forth on 2 sets of bulbs to test the results.. the same throughout.

the flicker is constant, and persists. not only at warm-up, it'll flicker for probably as long as its on but ive only allowed it to flicker for 30 seconds because i know theyre not suppose to function that way. (so i assumed it would damage something if i left it flickering) the driver side fires up flawlessly but the passenger side only flickers.. i didnt get a chance to check it out yet, but im pretty sure its a ground problem. ill re-check all the lighting grounds tomorrow.

Is the car running when you are doing this, or are you just running them off the battery? If there is not enough voltage they will flicker.

car on and off will both flicker. i was thinking the same thing so i started up my car to see if the voltage would be strengthened enough. nope, flicker persisted regrounding right now

grounded everything, no good. i hear a constant flicker clicking from the ballast. but i've tested and re-tested if its the ballast and its not. i swapped the ballasts back and forth and its the same.

Try running a case ground from the ballast to the body of the car, maybe the internal ground wire is corroded.
