Default Headlight bulbs

Well my night vision just utterly sucks, so I'm looking for the brightest halogen bulbs out there for my EG.

After searching I've narrowed it down to either the Raybrigs or Silverstar Ultra.
I was wondering if anyone had some input about these bulbs. Looking at the Raybrigs they seem better but a little too good to be true...anyone have experience with these?
I read good things about the PIAA Plasma GT-X as well but I can only find them in purple and I'm not exactly looking for that color...

Also, what's the difference between these Osram Sylvania's and Silverstar Ultra's, to me they seem the same just named differently.

the sylvania sliverstar blubs are about the same. the kelvin numbering is like 100 difference. its regular sliverstar is about 4000k and the ultra is 4200

I personally use Osram Nightbreakers. They have performed great for me. Much better than Slyvania Silverstar Ultras. They are brighter and last longer.

Osram Night Breaker Plus - H4

A couple other good alternatives would be Philips Xtreme Power, which I use on my wife's car. She has a Corolla and the Osram Nightbreakers aren't made in her size. She is very happy with how much brighter they are over her stock bulbs, but then almost anything is brighter than stock.

Philips Xtreme Power - H4

I've noticed that Philips has released a newer model, the Philips Xtreme Vision, that is supposed to be even brighter than the Xtreme Power. I don't have any personal experience with them so I can't testify if that is true or not. I do see that they have only a tiny stripe of blue tint on them so they should provide the maximum amount of usable light, but it probably won't be as "white" a light as if you had the partially blue tinted Xtreme power or the Nightbreakers.

Powerbulbs provides free shipping worldwide and you can use the coupon code "ZXRCX111" at checkout to get an extra 10% off. They are also giving away a two-pack of W5W bulbs free with any order over 15 pounds(currency). I'm pretty sure that W5Ws are the 5-watt equivalent of 168s or 192s.

Also, if your headlight lenses aren't clean and clear, you might want to refinish them. 3M makes a great lens restoration kit. I have used it on both my car and my wife's car with amazing results. All you need is a drill and painters tape to make sure you don't slip and scrape the paint, the kit provides the rest. One kit was enough to do both headlights on both my car and my wife's. About an hour of work took my headlights from cloudy to looking brand new. It has been about two years since I refinished mine and they still look great. I'd highly recommend it.

3M Headlight Restoration Kit

Well, that's my two cents on the matter.

make sure your headlights are adjusted as well, adding brighter bulbs on unaligned lamps wont help too much with distance

ive noticed using those halogen hyper white bulbs in the rain u cant see as well as with regular stock halogen . i cant see the lines on the road and the road it really black and shinny. best mod would be to clean the head light lens and restore kit.

I had the osram night breakers and they were awful.

Just got phillips extremes old model and they work wonderfully. Huge difference.

But if you go with HID bulbs don't you have to get headlight housings with the proper HID reflectors? I heard running HIDs in standard headlight reflectors, while being extremely bright, throws the light way too high and you can get a ticket for blinding people.

that is why you correctly aim them. i have had hids in my mr2, my civic, and my girlfriends prelude (bb6) and as long as you aim them correctly, youll be fine. yes bright, but not blinding. ive seen halogen headlights (silverstar ultra) that are more blinding than my ddm 8k hids WITH the high beams on (and no, high beams are not halogen)

Good to know. HIDs might be a possibility for me then. The only reason I haven't gone with HIDs yet is because people kept telling me that they had to buy HID specific headlight reflectors.

I am also running a set of DDM HID's. 55 watt Bi-Xenon kit to retain my high beam function. They are 8000K bulbs but with the light output of 6000K.

Don't get plug and play HIDs. If you HAVE to get 4300k.

I suggest trying the Phillips Xtreme for the best halogen bulb. Otherwise get a retrofit setup.

DDM is actually out of the slim ballasts and has been for awhile. The only HID they offer now is $160 with gigantic ballasts. They dont know when the slim ballasts will be back in stock.

I have these. Cant beat the price. Ive had them in my car almost 2 years. Althought i havent started my car in about 8 months.

I have the same bulbs. Installed them last week and have been happy ever since. Will abate my lighting frustration until I can afford to to a headlight retrofit.

umm check again? i just priced out hids for my dads navigator, the big ballasts (its what i have) and its 40$ shipped. the slim ballasts are only like 20$ more i think. i dont think they have any hids for 160$...at that price just get a xentec kit.

yes they are illeagle, but in the last 2 years i have not ONCE been pulled over for it, or for that matter even hassled about it when i had my brights on by acident when i passed a cop coming in the other direction. like i said, you have to aim them right.

OK, well here is my question now. Others like myself don't know how to aim the headlights on our cars. How do you aim and adjust the headlights?

Yeah I've ran the process of aiming them, they're about as good as it get's but I'm also running the crappy stock headlight bulbs so it's time for an upgrade

I tried a set of the PnP HiDs before I knew about retrofitting and all the other work involved with them. When I installed them I was very disappointed even after aiming them and took them out within an hour. Light was scattered and the glare was bad, waste of $70.

Sounds like Philips X-treme is getting the most praise so I'm gonna go ahead and give those a shot. Hopefully there will be a big difference out here in the desert with those and the fogs I ordered.
Thanks for the suggestions guys
And thanks for the code coolswimmerjon
