Default worth it to do auto to 5-speed conversion?

Hey everyone, currently I have a 98 civic hx with the auto tranny. The car is paid off in three months, and I have been considering a motor swap along with an auto to 5-speed conversion. How hard is it to convert the tranny to a 5-speed, and is it even worth it? Part of me says yes since my ride is paid off soon, and then the other part of me says dont bother, just go out and get another car. Can someone help?

If you have an HX(lightest version made), then I would swap a B18C 5-spd in there. The swap isn't that hard, all of the proper holes are marked in the firewall, they just neek t be knocked out. The installation isn't hard, just time consuming. If I had an HX that's what I would do, very quick just because of the curb weight of the car.

My friend just had his 95 Civic EX auto converted to manual for his JDM b18c swap.

everything is primarily the same except the tranny mount on the side. The mount is angled up on the automatics, and it's flat and straight for manuals. So you need to either make a mount for buy a mounting kit, dont' buy the place racing kit if you do the conversion though. The place racing kit just dont' fit well at all. I know of two other guys who did the conversion and tried to use the place racing kit, and it didn't fit, they wound up getting custom mounts made. If you are close to the east coast I know some guys in PA that do the swap for good price, and can have the mount made for pretty cheap, about $50.

Other than that it's a pretty straight forward swap. One thing though my friends reverse lights don't work. We think its sensor related but we haven't been worrying about it.

well......i have head that for the 6 gen civics it is not needed to get a trans mount kit or moving any of the trans mounts.......but the 5 gen civics (92 to 95)....it is needed to move one of the mounts..............for the 6 gen, they just bolt in....
