Default Auto->Manual Conversion. Can I use 5spd pedal assembly temporarily with auto tranny?

I am converting my 96 ex from auto to manual and was wondering if anybody knows if I could possibly install the new pedals on my current (auto) tranny setup and just let the clutch pedal hang free until I have time to convert everything else.

Basically I'm wondering what parts of this swap I can break down and get done while keeping the car driveable >_<

Here's my project thread btw:

thanks in advance.

Yes you can. It's only pedals and there will be one useless one for now. I suggest you do it. The pedals is the worst part of the whole thing.

well I'm not really jumping the gun, I have taken my time gathering everything for the most part and have read up a ton on the subject.

be sure to check out the thread I linked in the OP since I have another problem there which is towards the bottom of the post.

Yeah, I will probably set aside a day to do the pedals then

so did you guys convert EK's also?

any other tips?

thanks!

I'm doing the exact same thing i'm putting a b16 in mine and it's getting complicated lol

I've been drivng around for awhile now with a clutch pedal it'ss just fall to the floor anyways because there is no pressure in your lines

complicated why? because i have a cable tranny and a obd0 b16a i have the conversion mounts and kit for the hydro to cable conversion just converting the b16 is a pain

oh and you don't have to pull the entire pedal assembly to change the pedals

The brake arm itself if you remove the bolt the it pivots on which i believe was a 12mm you can play with it abit and take it out and put the new one in the only hard part is the spring which i used needle nose pliers

the clutch pedal assembly the bracket pedal etc is seperate and is only 3 or 4 bolts and that is real easy to put in

oh and remove your driverside seat so you can lay on the floor on your back it'll make things sooo much easier any question let me know it's not hard at all

the cotter pins a bit of a pain in the *** but i just broke mine and get new ones if you twist them they break real easy

yeah I don't know where I would be without Luserkids guide.

to BWek:
wow man, that makes me feel a tiny bit better at least...
I'm just trying to take things slowly, but at the same time I can't wait till I'm driving this baby as a 5spd.

I emailed ACT about my pressure plate question (not sure if the pp I ended up with is the right one), but I'm on the verge of buying an exedy kit.

read my project thread for more.

edit: I meant to say your job is way bigger than mine BWek.
also, hmm I never thought about just breaking/replacing the cotter pin

Yes you can, I did it that way for about a month until I gathered all my parts. All my friends laughed at it tho, Swap over the brake arm from the manual set of pedals to prevent the clearance issue.

ya everyone trys to save the 12 cent cotter pin lol

just swap the brake arm and you can use your original throttle cable and you don't have to drop you steering column to do it and do you do not need to take your interior apart just take a flash light in there it took me about 45 mins to do the swap over in my car

if you were closer I would say come over and let s do it but you aren't

make sure you take your seat out it makes it soo much easier!!!
