It shouldn't "bolt straight up" as you have stated. The bolt spacing is the same between the two fuel rails (if I remember correctly), however, the Y8 regulator has an inlet that is offset from the center line of the bolt holes whereas, the B18B regulator has an inlet that is centered between the bolt holes. So essentially, if you bolt the Y8 regulator to the B18B, it will leak fuel when you pressurize the fuel system.
