Default wheel stud question

i have a 94 civic si and i've have seen several civics with extended wheel studs and i require these when i purchase slicks. my question is: are these studs something i can purchase at honda or do i need to goto an automotive store and find some with the same knurl(sp?) as the civic. any help is greatly appreciated.

you can order the arp one on summitracing. But keep in mind when installing the stud you have to press out the old hub to have the extended stud press in and when you press the hub out you need to get new wheel bearings, I didn't know that until I went to get mine installed .

Do not get the skunk2

I have the skunk2 and payed to have them
and new wheel bearings put in and my 2nd time to
the track I was in the pits trying to get my slicks
off and one of them just spun in the hub
that was after I chased the threads

Get the ARP or any thing just not the skunk2's

Those in the pic look like a doorman or an acura stud.
Sorry but I don't know the part #'s on them try a search
and you will find part #'s for the doorman and the Acura

I'd have to say that your problem would be caused by poor installation, not faulty product. If you tap the new studs in, when they are off center, the teeth on the stud will strip. Over torqing in this situation would not help.

Normally the hub itself will not strip, so all that is needed is a new stud and a little more patience.

If you run Bogarts or something all you need is the Bogart lugs... If you have some other brand of wheel then you may still need them... Just a thought... Peace

Exactly. I've heard from many people who have used Skunk2 extended wheel studs and they tend to strip easily. I used some ARP extended wheel studs (12mm, 1.5 pitch -- from a mid-late 80's Camero/Firebird) and they worked out great. They come in a pack of 5 and cost around $12-$15 per pack from Summit. For more info on them, and how to install them, here is a buddy's website that shows it in full detail: http://www.hybridautomotive.com/tech/arp_studs/

the bogart lugs made it 'fair' to the point where I didnt feel too scared to run with them. This is with the spacers on 13" wheels to clear si/gsr brakes. However with the DSS stage 4 lugs(arp) I am confident to run on them now. the added expense of new bearings was something I didn't count on. but it looks kind of cool to me on my street wheels.

I've heard the ARP studs are the wrong knurl size? Somebody here had a line on the correct studs to use. A while back though. Anyone?

nevermind---found it...
