Wheel studs...extended
Anyone have a good place to buy extended wheel studs? With my 1" thick rotors I'm not getting enough threads on the studs to be comfortable. Would like to buy studs about 1/2" longer.
Any help?

While I'm doing the brakes and fixing the stud, I may as well upgrade in case I may need to use spacers in the future.

Stock studs (measured out of hub inside shoulder to end of threads) = 37mm
94/95 etc GSR stud = 47mm
You could also get the ARP studs. 2 1/2" = 63.5mm. Be advised that the knurl is a bigger diameter than stock. If I remember correctly, the stock knurl is around .483. If you go to the ARP, you will need to drill out the hubs to 1/2". There are people they say just force them in. Hmm, can you say stress riser? How about stress crack?

Go to your local parts store and ask for a Dorman (manufacturer) 610-323 wheel stud. They are M12X1.5, are twice as long as the stock studs, have the same knurl size, and are about $1 a piece. Would you believe that these are actually over length replacement studs for many GM applications?
Or 86-89 Teg rears. 48 mm long vs. 39 mm for the stockers.
12mm X 1.5 Perfect for 1/4" spacer

AJ, did you drill out your hubs or force the ARPs in there?
here is a pic:

sorry about the huge pics.
take care,

i'm not AJ, but i forced mine in awhile back and i havent had any problems, and I don't see any problems arising in the future. i think some people are over reacting. the hub is made of strong metal, and if it cracked that would be a real surprise. im actually glad that it's in there tight, if the stud starts spinning in the hub after the wheel has been tightened that's a very annoying problem.

Works perfect for me! Just remember to have some open ended lug nuts if you need to run a spare/steelie on the front.
