what year si does this engine belong to.
Hey guys/gals a friend of mine bought a 98 civic with a b16a swap how can i tell what year si (obd?) did the engine belong I need to buy a b16a ecu but not sure what obd it needs. currently running a p72j (gsr ecu).

it could be any of them. the b16 was made from like 88 to 00 or something
ODDS are its a OBD1 B16, but you cant be 100% sure.

check the vin number on the motor the 10th digit is a letter each letter stands for a year i duno what letters equal the year ask your body shop i learned that when i worked at a body shop

Ok don't quote me on all of this but I think:
B16A1 in production until 93 or 94
B16A3 Del-Sol Vtec
B16A2 99-00 Civic Si
B16B CTR (Don't get your hopes up!!!)

Just look on your head I PROMISE that it is on there cause the ecu can be a different year than the motor save yourself the hassle of trying to look for anything else besides that number stamped on the head.

if its a JDM motor there is no designating number at the end (a2, a3, etc) its just B16a

i have a p28 for sale perferct working condition 200 bucks but if its a b16a its obd 0 you will newed to get a pm3 to make it run right but that will work for a wehile and if its a b16a1 its a 99 civic si motor what kind of car is it in
