What is something in an EG that could cause voltage spikes?
I got this problem with idle and hesitation at various rpms. When using more then about 30% throttle, at 3,600rpms, it set off my laser setting on the radar detector. Using more throttle results in a more intense reading. It never used to do this and I am at a loss as to what could cause this. I was thinking perhaps the regulator in the alternator died... I took out the main fuse box tonight to check the ELD and found some corrosion on the terminals as well. The car WAS running fine, then one day I got this issue. any help would be appreciated.

I have a 97cpe with a 97 b20b swap, non-vtec in it. I had some problems like that when I first put it in my car. I swap the dist. with one out of a 97 ls, and it took care of the problem. I out mine back in, and the problem ouccured again. I would try to find one you can use to troubleshoot before you go and buy a new one (about $200). Now I just need to convert from ob2 to ob-1 and I can get my check engine light to go off. Hope that helps for you.

Most radar detectors only have one intensity for laser. what detector is it? also my valentine one used to alert laser when i honked the horn, this was in 3 or 4 different cars. digital cameras can set them off too.

Dist is brand new. 3 days old. I am pretty sure its not the problem, but it could be I suppose.

Its a generic Uniden. It always would go off with the horn, but now its coming on when I hit 3,600rpms. Strange indeed.
