b18c or b18c5

stay away from b16b as cool as it sounds its simply over priced b16a......for the same price you can have a ITR which will be at least .5sec quicker in 1/4mile......

Go CR-VTEC. The conversion has been done sucessfully and is well documented. For the $$$ you would spend on a B18C5 you get 2 liters worth of torque.

It's what I plan to do this winter.

me? i would go ls turbo/b20 turbo. it all depends on your plans. An ls can be had for cheap form looking around. Do a custom turbo and you will have a sweet engine.

Plus with a few internal mods you can get a lot out of that engine....i.e new rods and and pistons(not sure how much boost teh stock internals can take).

B18B, easy to get your hands on, cheap, cheap and cheap. Good power , great at low end. Even stock great at low end. not to bad for build up. Its possible to go CRVTEC or LS-VTEC. Just a decent cheap way to start.

I second the motion for B18C1. What's the world's most supported engine?? Integra GSR... so why not tap right into all that aftermarket support??

I just thought of something, Hows the idea of a B16A stroking to 1.8 and turbo charging it. If i stroke it to 1.8..is that the same as the B18C1? if its different, how many hp do you think it will be? Let me know if this is a good idea. thanx

b18c1 best priced engine good for n/a and turbo. don't get a b18c5 or b16b unless you have some money to waste and you have something to prove.

stroke the b18c1 out to 2.1, its half of what a turbo will be and there so much you can do with the head while its off. *shrug*

So is stroking an engine a good idea? I don't know much about stroking. Does it shorten the life of the engine? What outcome does it have? So..is the idea of stroking a B16 to 1.8 the same as B18? I still need to know about some details. thanx

I think the actual deck height is taller on the 1.8L, so it's likely that a B16 stroked to 1.8 would have different characteristics than the 1.8 by itself. Plus, it's cheaper to buy the 1.8 than get a JUN stroker kit . Plus, remember the B18C has those funky intake manifold runners that the B16A doesn't.

strokeing a motor is essentially rebuilding it from scratch, it's a whole new motor. no wall wear(bored and sleeved). you buy a kit, it will all be new. so to ask about engine life? it'll be like haveing a H22 that's brand spank'n new(with more torque) without all the weight. if you want 1.8, just get an LS or a GSR, i would think it to be to much trouble(even know it seems to be cheaper i.e.EM) to stroke a B16 to 1.8.
