VTEC help!!! Works when the car first starts, then nothing!!!
My vtec will come on when I 1st drive the car. After this it will not function unless I turn the car off and start it again. When it does this I get a Code 22, Vtec pressure. Then after restarting the code will go away then come back. I've done the basic checks like checking the oil level.
Any suggestion of what this may be or what is causing this? What can I do to correct it

hmmm havent really heard of that problem...its only happens when you go into 2nd gear or higher!? the only thing that i can think of is that its a wiring issue where the ecu or poss. that your oil pressure at higher rpms isnt suffiecent enough to operate vtec? getting any codes!?

Check your oil again, vtec pressure is oil pressure. Make sure you checked your oil level correctly and if you think you did, then just change your oil put the correct amount of oil in and then try again.

When you first start the car, it works 1st 2nd and 3rd gear. But then after about 30 seconds VTEC ***** the bed and doesn't work anymore.

Its grounded right to the battery and still throws the code 22. I can only hit Vtec one time then the code will flash. If I turn off the car and restart it the code will go away, until I hit Vtec. I switched ECU's and still the problem exist. Can I bypass the pressure sensor?

I had this problem but my vtec assembly was leaking oil from between the solenoid and the pressure switch. I ordered a vtec assembly from a 2000 type-r from ebay and now I hit vtec all day long.
