URGENT EK H22a problems! (HCP MOUNTS)
Got the motor in today, everything is correctly installed however my drivers side shock tower is touching the valve cover, "no clearance"
running standard hcp ek h22a kit (grey mounts metal welded, with black inserts) and also place racing drivers side gel filled mount)
i'm trying to shim to get more clearances but i can't without having the motor to limp on one side or else...
i even grinded the side of the valve cover for a bit of clerances... any other imput guys ?
help

Sounds like you're using the wrong rear tranny bracket.... sounds like you have the 97+ H22 rear tranny bracket. With the HCP mount kit (for both EG and EK setups) you need to use the 92-96 Prelude H22A rear tranny bracket.

WTF....now I feel stupid. But it worked on my car??
BTW my valve cover is really close also, but I just cut the end of the VC off so that I could adjust the cam gears...plenty of room now

yeah i have like 1/8 of clearance without a grinded valve cover, (NEW rear mount) when i grinted it where the plastic cover locks in i now have 1/4 of an inch...
i'll have pics of it.

Same problem my friend with a 99 hatch with H22a swap.
He had to cut his V.C just so it would not bind against the shock tower area.
It still hits.
I'll have to ask him what rear bracket he's using.

using a 92-95 jdm H22a rear braket... damn close though... i don't like cutting stuff because if you cut and a rock goes in your belt will jump = bad
oh well if you guys got other idea's let me know.. also have another problem...
tried using the prelude jackshaft with lude inners and a drivers side 90-93 shaft (won't fit) tried with a 86-89 shaft (won't fit) a bit better).... passenger side is fine.. drivers the shaft is in to far...
is there a shorter shaft i can use.. or another end i coudl use (the one that goes into the knuckle ?

Weird. I took pictures of a JDM H22A and USDM H22A rear tranny bracket from a 92-96 H22A.... same ****. I have a JDM H22A rear tranny bracket (on my US motor... go figure) in my EK hatch and it lines up fine. Might want to make sure you do have the correct tranny bracket and that it's not bent (if it's bent, then yes it'll throw the motor off quite a bit).
