On such a crucial area on the engine why not pay a little bit more. I'd never use non-OEM parts when it comes to the water pump and timing belt. Pay a little now or pay ALOT later. Your choice.

What if it were a spoon belt and a meziere pump? OEM guys make me sick, I don't run OEM belt/pump... do you run an OEM air filter?

Guys who run spoon belt and a meziere pump makes me laugh, I don't waste my money for the name and hype. Those parts are for "RACING ONLY" not for the typcial daily driver. BTW yes I run the OEM air filter.

Gates belts are great. I have installed many of them and never had a problem. I do not know about the water pump(s) you said, I have never used them.

Alight, thanks

I'll buy them from Kunkels (considering I get like half off list price) and try them out. Any problems I'll let you guys know!

I heard mixed things about Gates for timing belts. A good friend of mine who has been working on hondas for 15 years says on Gates... Try Oem. The oem belt is like 60 dollars but worth it...

I'm running an OEM pump and a gatorback belt, not OEM, but does it really matter?

Can somebody prove the negative effects of a non-oem belt?

Anyone have an actual time lapsed test showing the wear and tear of OEM vs Aftermarket Timing belts/waterpumps?

Goodyear has been around longer than Honda, Goodyear specializes in the rubber field, belts are made of rubber, honda makes engines not rubber, I think it's safe to say that Gatorback is better than OEM.

Does anyone know the name of the company that makes belts for Honda?

It is Gates and Banjo.

That does not mean they are made of quality. I have replace many broken goodyear belts. Not saying that it will break on you, but I have seen it too many times. There drive belts make noise more then other brands. Thats if what I have seen.

im a honda mechanic for a dealer. ive seen aftermarket belts and pumps go bad early. it is way worth the money. and if you can afford the money to have it installed it will save your *** if you or who ever messes it up.
