Swaps into a '82 accord hatch?
My friend has an '82 accord hatch and his engine needs a rebuild. The car's in great condition except for the engine. Hes thinking of putting a newer engine in instead - particularly a D15B vtec motor. Would this even be possible? He's just a poor college kid and he only has about $1100 MAX to spend fixing his car. He figures a rebuild is going to cost him four figures anyway. (btw hes not a gearhead so he wouldnt be able to do it himself)
Heres the engine hes lookin at http://64.49.247.187/index.asp...D=242
Personally, I dont know the specs on this engine, but I figure it cant be impressive given the age. I know a lot of you guys do swaps into your more contemporary hondas and I'll bet there are a lot of unwanted SOHC motors lying around that would be just as powerful as the D15B. Then again I have no clue as to swappability. Thoughts? Any suggestions as to alternate courses of action would be greatly appreciated.
