Icon2 82 accord hatchback engine swap

I will be inheriting a 82 accord with 70,000 original miles, and hand clock .
I have some experience with honda mods, having done all the work on my girlfriends 00 civic d16y7 (currently in the process of mini me).

I want to know what is the best engine swap for my 82 accord. Best being most worth my time, money, and involving the least amount of fab work.

I am not certain as I do not have possession of the car yet, exactly what its current stock engine is. I have drove it and know that the little carburetor engine takes up less the 2/3 of the space under the hood and has no problem moving that little hatch.

I plan on running this engine hard and long before I go dropping something new in.

I would like to put a mid sized DOHC with vtec in...
I have to admit though I have always wanted a d15 vtec hatch...

Any input is appreciated.

ps: Last time I saw the car (3 months ago) I put on a brand new carburetor, new rotors and pads, and had new tires put on. I also sea foamed the hell outta that old girl.

The JDM B20A is probably the closest thing you'll find that will drop in that car. You'll have to convert the car to EFI of course. Good luck finding one though, and sourcing parts for it. Nothing with VTEC will fit without fabricating mounts. Good luck! "Ichiban" on 3geez.com has a B20A in his 82 Hatch. Go look up his posts... Lots of good info.

Why would you do that to a good engine? Running it like a Honda engine should be ran, and at 70,000 miles, you've got years ahead of you to enjoy that thing, man.

Any B-series will fit.

H's will fit but you need solid mounts and a slim radiator...it's TIGHT

That depends on your definition of "fit." There's plenty of room, that's for sure.

I am willing to sell the original carb.

Thanks for all the interest and input, I have been looking at b-series motors for a while.

I have been driving the hatch daily for the past few months.

Currently the following has been done

Oil change+stp treatment
K+N air filter
GM muffler I had sitting around the shop
Patch welded exhaust leaks and replaced gaskets
replaced air snorkel hose
gutted interior for cleaning and sound deadening
cleaned and replaced hardware on front mud flaps

still a lot of work ahead of me

I would like to find a turbo set up instead of swapping in a b series.
headers
Clean and paint stock rims, chrome the beauty rings
heat gun the bumper and trim back to a shiny black
under glow blue led
lowering springs
low pro 13" tires stretched and tucked
remove pin striping
replace glove box brackets
find replacement rear view mirror
nice seat of blue bucket seats
front lower lip off a Scion XB should fit?
straight pipe the exhaust from mani back.

I am desperately seeking a back seat upper portion, I have the frame.
But the formed foam and fabric was trash.. I will most likely take it to an upholster and see what they can do.

Some of your future ideas sound good.

Sadly, though, quite a few don't sound so good. In a bad way.

Good luck with your car however you do it.

Well IMHO your opinion is **** also. Thanks for taking time
To post your so valuable input. If your going to say my ideas are bad why not give reasons behind why they are bad or offers alternatives instead of bad mouthing my ideas and then wishing me luck.

Lolol. Apparently my opinion does mean something to get you riled up over it.

I was trying to be nice, but if you want me to tell you why, ok.........

First off, putting under glow............

..................you know what? I'm not going to bother seeing how my "opinion is ****."

But you did catch feelings, though, lolol.
