Swap & Shift Linkage>>bad synchros???
Does anyone here know if the type of shift linkage you use affects your transmission? Or if the way it is installed (where it is not secure or loose) matters? Because I have a feeling that is why my synchros are going out in my type r tranny after my swap into my 96-98 civic coupe. My 3rd gear didn't used to grind when i first had the swap the first couple of weeks...but after a while...when i shifted above 5000rpm, it would grind/crunch. Now after a year and a half..if i shift above 3500 rpm, it will grind/crunch. And I don't want to rebuild the tranny if it is going to happen again...I don't remember what shift linkage I used...I think it is the civic si shift linkage..but do not really remember. So basically do you guys think the shift linkage and its installation could affect synchros being worn at a much faster rate??? Thanks in advance guys.
I had the same type of problem a week or so after I did my swap and rigged a shift linkage to work. That may have contributed to it but....
slowly my 3rd gear grind would come at earlier RPM and it was more difficult to get it into gear when normal driving until the other day and my clutch went out. The first thing I noticed before the clutch went out was the inability to go into/grind of 3rd and within minutes the clutch was pretty much completely gone. I should be swapping out the clutch soon and I'm curious if that clutch change will rid my tranny of the grind altogether..... I'll let you know if it does.

i highly doubt the linkage is the culprit in ur synchro problem....
if it was... it would probably happen in all gears...
besides 3rd is usually the first to go...
