Default swap problem!? very weird!?

so i dropd my h22 wired everything and at one point it did run....

this is how it ran: started kinda jerky and idle was surging a little. heres where it gets weird...the car will just rev upto a certain point then cut fuel then rev, then cut fuel...this is over and over. at this point we tried to troubleshoot some sensors.. now when the sensors are unpluged the car runs the same as if they did while plugd in!? at this point i think the ecu is running in an open loop on start mode....car runs rich, wont let rev...ect. now at this point the only thing i could think of is dist. since it runs the main functions to the ecu....pulled the cap and found cracks going to 3 of the 4 pins....so we replaced the cap and now we dont get spark!? not even out of the coil!? should we try replacing the coil!? any ideas!?

btw. the dist is jdm internal coil.

ECU is your problem. because OBD II has more sensors than OBD I. If it doesn't detect the sensors, it will run weird. Aslo check your fuses for sparks. Don't start a project until you have all your resources.

hmmmm....well off my harness there was only one unused sensor and that was crank angle? and its not like im gettin 35-40 codes from the 300 that obd2 has, im only getting like 6, and i know for sure that one of them is going to be egr, cuz its not hooked up....

Yup, that sounds like your classic "ECU not working" problem. Usually that occurs from either getting a bum ECU to begin with, or one that's been chipped and not soldered in correctly. Try swapping out the ECU for another OBD-1 ECU or your old stock one just to see if it runs better/smoother (or whatever year/generation ECU that you need to use to plug into your car).
