you will HAVE to go with an AEM standalone. They are the only ones on the market that supports the srt4's weird *** crank sensor.
you cant run the stock ecu unless you pull the ENTIRE harness from the car along with the stock key cylinder and key due to the way the PATS system is integrated into the ecu.
you will also have to figure a way to wire in and properly set the cluster as all of the gauge signals are digital.
I have no clue if that s2k gauge cluster converter dingymado will work on the signals for the srt4.
LOTS of work if you ask me. Just stick with the cookie cutter

well, there is a Chrysler shadow, same POS in quality inside and out. everything is cheap on that car, the aluminum heads love to break at the worst times. we get a chrysler car with that engine at least once a week in our shop. funny, but when i was car illiterate back in the day, i used to think lebarons were the ****, turbo or not, but im so glad i became aducated

Most of it has already been said, but the k-car lineup used turbos on all the high end cars before the mitsu v-6 became an option. The early motors sucked, but they went through at least 3 full generations, and the later ones were pretty tough. There was also the Diamond Star projects (Eclipse triplets, and the Stealth twins), not to mention the Starquest... In international markets, they have used turbo 4s for the past few decades, instead of outsourced v6 motors. The SRT-4 motor started out as the motor for a mexican issue dodge stratus, with a quick steriod shot.
Point being, they know a thing or two. Go check out an Omni forum and you might be surprised what those guys do. Motor is ~75% reliable stock, and about 75% reliable at 300-400hp on a $1000 JY/home depot budget. So they're fun in thier own way.
Edit: PS Mopar will sell you all the parts you need for ~400hp and you still get a warrenty

buddy, i was never doging on the srt4 or what power that they were getting out of them. the thing i dont like is those engies that came in the lebarons shadows and other cars of the same era.like late 80's and early 90's. ive seen the facts my self, also, those cars are made out of some of the cheapest materials inside as well.all of them. same crap. maybe they did get better and thougher like u said, but i was not talking about those. allmy statement said, that those were cheap cars all throught.. period. i believe that srt4's have potential also, their stock block can handle more power than an H22 block for ex, srt4 blocks are made out of cast iron. i dont classify SRT4's as a glorified neon because only ignorant people who dont know facts say that type of stuff.

Most people who bag on the neon are talking out of their *** and don't really know a damn thing other than "what he/she said about it". The motor/transmission/suspension/brakes are all totally different than a standard neon and made in conjunction with mitsubishi. And mitsubishi sure as hell knows a damn thing about turbo cars, but look how bad they are doing in america.
This is just like saying an evo is a lancer, an sti is an impreza.

The block is a beefier turbo version with an extra oil gallery that is tapped for piston squirters in four positions (not used on NA versions). As well as separate oil taps for the oil cooler.
A water jacket upgrade. It is the result of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis used by the Daimler Chrysler engineers which model the fluid flow through the block and create ramps in the water passages that direct as much as six times the mass of coolant between the cylinders.
The crank has increased surface hardening as compared with NA engines.
The conrods are made of C-70 forged steel (drilled with squirt holes to oil the cylinder walls) as opposed to powdered-metal of the NAs.
The factory MAHLE piston on bost types of engines have Grafal skirt coatings, but the turbo version has a hard-anodized top ringland, a moly-coated 1.2mm top ring and a shorter skirt to lower piston commpression height (and the pistons position in the cylinder) which ultimately lowers the compression ratio to 8.1:1
The turbo motors head has Silchrome-1 intake valves and Inconel (trick- I believe the same material used in F1 exhaust headers) exhaust valves.
The heads' cast aluminum cover has a trick internal baffle system to cope with turbo pressures.
there are many differences, and these are the significant ones. I sourced this from the Sept. 2003 issue of HOT ROD magazine, who tore the engine apart.

in other words. a factory engine built for boost. if it makes u feel better, hnda can build a tough engine lke that too, but since non of their engines are turbocharged at hight boost or non at all, they can go aliminuim. lighter, better for an all motor car.i used to hate on other 4 cylinder performance engines that were not honda that were massproduced, but honda is not the only one making good motors. its still in "a way" an old engine design, but with improvements.

not at the all! The evo has been using the 4g63 for over 15years(same motor in the turbo eclipses). Although the SRT-4 uses a mitsubishi turbo which is similar to an evo turbo. The srt4 uses a 16G turbo, but I think its a bit different than the current evo's turbo.

edit. no
if u have seen the evo engines u would see there is a big difference

I would suspect that there was a good deal of reverse engineering done on the 4G63 by DaimlerChrysler before they made one of their own for the SRT-4.
There is a reason why the 4G63 has been around for nearly 20 years, its a very reliable and well developed platform. All Mitsu's WRC cars, past and present, were built around the 4G63.
You also need to consider that Mitsu and Chrysler have been lovers for a couple of decades, so you know Mitsu lent a hand with most of Chrysler's turbo motors.
In any event the swap could be done, as stated before, with quite a bit of fabrication and tons of elbow grease. Would not be a weekend affair.
