Which setup to go with?? Please Help!!!!!
I am planning on doing some changes to my engine setup in my crx and these are the possibilities right now.. Currently I have a JDM B16a1 with CTR Pistons, everything else is stock...
Option #1:
-------------
B16a1 bottom end with CTR Pistons
B16a1 PR3 Head:
Port and Polished
ITR Lost Motion Assembly
ITR Valve Springs
ITR Retainers
ITR Intake Manifold
CTR Cams
Option #2:
------------
B16a1 bottom end with CTR Pistons
B16a1 PR3 Head:
Port and Polished
Skunk2 Stage II Cams
Skunk2 Valve Springs
Skunk2 Retainers
ITR Lost Motion Assembly
ITR Intake Manifold
Skunk2 Cam Gears
Option #3: [LS/VTEC]
-------------
B18A/B Bottom end with CTR Pistons
B16a1 PR3 Head:
Port and Polished
I'm mostly restricted by money, obviously.. but I want to know which one would be the best bang for the buck?? Which one would be more likely to keep up with or beat a b18c5 CRX?? or h22 eg??
Any advice would be greatly appreciated..
Thanx

IMO option 3 is the best choice . But then again just rebuilding what you have would probably work out better. Check out Importbuilders.com and see what they have on rebuilds.
how is this possible from a b16 with this setup??:

http://www.bseries.net/html/dyno/NA....RogerFoo_Civic
JDM B16A block
Stock B16A PR3 head
ITR valve springs
ITR lost motion assembly
ITR cams
skunk2 cam gears
CTR pistons (~12:1 CR)
DC 4-2-1
open exhaust (little resonator)
ITR intake manifold
stock airbox w/K&N drop in & cold air ducting
stock throttle body
skunk2 ECU
Field SFC-VTEC
balanced bottom end
ITR clutch
Muller aluminum flywheel
notice the motor B16!
Is that possible or just BS??

yes Roger Foo's setup is a role model for what a B16 is capable of, but those guys spent a lot of time getting that motor set up right. The key is that the B16 likes to breathe.. with an open exhaust, and a properly setup head and cams that are dialed in for max power... this is what you can do. Amazing too, wish I had the money to follow in his footsteps.
Personally I would try to get as much displacement as possible, even a B20 bottom end with ITR spec head will stomp a lot of what you have listed, if tuned properly.
You can use parts from your B16 to get the B20 to rev high also... oil pump, head, etc.... but you might as well add new pistons and rods, that will drive your costs high but be very durable.
My dream is a CRVTEC with a light flywheel and ITR spec head and tranny, fully dyno tuned...
in my 2000 pound 92 CX set up for autox/trackschool

Option 3 will build you the most power, if built right you can easily reach 200whp. I pulled a little over 200whp with ITR pistons instead of CTR's
I priced out the skunk2 valvetrain and it came out to 2g's cnd?? is this gonna be worth it or what?? What kind of numbers should I be running hp wise?? I would hope it would be more the Roger Foo's setup or it doesn't seem like it would be worth it.. I might be better off following his setup??
Thanx

Option three should defenitely be able to keep up with a b18c5 but probally is going to be pretty expensive since your money restrictive.
Then id say go wit the #2
