Default rwd theory

after looking over

RaceCity_USA rear engine teg

tinker219 rear engine del sol

braille auto front engine rear wheel drive

i was trying to think of another way to pull off rwd on a honda with stock trans / engine.

i came up with this.

normal teg

hybrid
http://146.186.48.138/main/upload/hybrid.jpg

basically its the engine with its stock fwd transmission turned 90 degrees so that the pulleys are facing the front bumper and the distributor is towards the firewall. The differential will be welded sold as it can get and all of the power will be transferred through what used to be the passenger side of the transmission axle port. From there its through a custom drive shaft, to a rear end from whatever I can find.

plausable idea? horrible idea? BAN!?

Why not just buy a rear drive car instead of converting a FWD to RWD?

FWD frames does not have the frame strength to handle a power and twisting forces that would arise from an axle traveling front to back.

Using the stock tranny will not work. If you center the engine, the axle will be coming out on the driver side and even if you cut the firewall and crossmember, theres not enough space. The only thing i can imagine doing is making an adapter plate and bolting on a S2000 tranny. Although you will have to cut the firewall and crossmember, it is possible. I've already seen someone use a CRV rear end on a civic, so it is possible to combine those with a custom drive shaft and make it work. But, it will cost $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!
