Default running rich, need some help. eh2 w/ h22a

i bought this car couple months ago, its a 93 civic hatch w/ a jdm obd1 h22a swap. the fuel pump primes loud so i know theres an aftermarket pump in there. right now the car runs really rich, spark plugs are black, and it leaves a black spot from the exhaust on the garage door. part throttle is very hestitant and sometimes the idle is bumpy. im guessing that the aftermarket fuel pump has raised the fuel pressure causing it to run rich at idle and at part throttle. im planning on getting a fuel pressure regulator and fuel pressure gauge soon so im wondering what should the stock fuel pressure be at? also im not sure but are the injectors 290cc or 270cc? thanks for any input.

if its obd1, the injectors are 345 cc's and need to run at 40-45 psi wot (pull the vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator to simulate wot once you get your guage). Since you didn't do the swap, make sure there is a resistor box wired to the injectors, that's a dead give away that you have the obd1 injectors.

just wot, it should be lower at idle, probably around 30-35 or so. I used to have a walbro 255 in my car, and the fuel pressure would stay at 45 psi no matter what, and I was running rich at idle. I swapped out for the stock fuel pump and now I idle at 31 psi. My car runs a lot better this way.

dont do that, it wont help... start by removing the egr valve and block it off, that will lean it out some. you can also check your timing, if its retarded, you will run rich, also get yourself an adjustable regulator. keep in mind that depending on how you have your exhaust set up especially without a cat, you can have some black crap come out when you fire it up, my h22 is perfectly tuned and still does it. i hope this helps, just remember especially with the timing if its still running rich than advance it, put some of that extra fuel to work for you...

before you fuc with the egr, what ecu are you running ?? you will pull a light for the egr with a p13 just so you know. switch to a p28 with a s100 system base map dyno 400 bucks call it a day not ever worry bout it again !!!
let me know if your in va, tuned $400-450 p28 w/ s100 hondata
my .02 cents
or if you are running that rich go p28 with a fpr set at 53psi you should be good on not leaning out for a while !?!? haha hey man for real just get a s100 system call it a day. because i knwo if you don't you will go get a vafc for soem bling ! haha b

running jdm auto p13 and if i recall, this ecu doesnt detect egr. i would never waste my money on hondata but im still gonna try sticking w/ the fuel pump thats in it right now and get a fuel pressure regulator and fuel pressure gauge and see wasssup. 30-35psi for idle and 40-45psi for wot, hope i got that right. and what you guys mean by "hose off", do i take off the vacuum line on the fpr while adjusting the pressure? does that refer to wot also?

yep, when you take the vacuum line off the fpr, the fpr sees atmospheric pressure, which simulates wide open throttle. Always set your fpr while simulating wot, then see what it falls to when you put the vacuum line back on.

the jdm p13 sure does use the egr.
and at idle with the vacuum tube removed from the FPR you shoud be seeing 36-38 psi.

atually code 12 means nothing to vtec, as the egr system only operates under light acceleration and steady state throttle. the only time it will run like crap is when the egr valve is stuck open.

If you want to pass out bad information go right ahead.
According to honda the things that will disable vtec would be:
tach pickup
VSS
ECT
vtec pressure switch
vtec solenoid

If i still had a video camera i would take great pleasure in removing my egr system taking a drive hitting vtec repeatedly.

I'll jump in here and agree with you. I used to run my H on a p13 without egr hooked up, and it had no effect what-so-ever on vtec.

You can just grab a redbull can, or coke can and make a cut plate for it. You're done.
