Results with a K24 hlock/K20 head?
I've been thinking of building a new engine to swap into my DC4, but still don't know what to go with. I was set on boosting my current B18B1 for awhile, but the thought of being able to keep up with FI cars while being N/A at the track seems enticing. I've read over at K20A.org that people are experiencing pretty good success with the new K24/K20 "frankenstein", but I have yet to see any Dyno sheets with numbers. The only one I've seen was one where something must have been horribly wrong because the guy was only getting 173whp .
What should I be getting? I've heard the TSX bottom end is the way to go, but I've heard several different things regarding the head. Some said that the stock head should just be left as it is and that the Type-S head is somewhat of a waste. I don't want to sacrifice too much reliability by changing the stock internals too much, but I've heard some people are getting good results with IPS's new cams.
What it be to much to expect 285whp-300whp with a good tune? Thanks guys

yes that is too much to expect - stock (TSX) block you are looking at 220whp & 190lb ft at the wheels max (good IM, ITR/IPS k2 cams, header, k-pro)... Ron from IPS built a 2250cc motor making 312 whp & 220 tq but my guess is the motor cost more than $15,000 to build - sleeved, custom pistons, custom castillo crank, custom bearings & rods, ITBs, header, IPS KME cams etc....custom R/S ratio as well. article stated motor was built around the KME cams b/c stock blocks did not rev high enough to make any additional power
stock TSX block is not meant to run to 8000-9000rpm due to piston speeds b/c of long stroke...bearings are a weak link as well
go to k20a.org there is plenty of info there - learn to search as this topic has been covered here & there in depth - see this thread for dyno #'s http://www.k20a.org/forum/showthread.php?t=4480

Damn...
Is it possible to achieve 300whp with a K Series while still retaining streetability? How much would I be looking to spend?

You'll be looking at 9,000 just to do the complete swap clean thats not even including the cost to build the motor. But if you did do it it would be one crazy setup. But you wouldn't be able to keep it streetable it's just to much power going street light to street light. Not including the sound of raw horse power.Ron from IPS did built a motor but the motor he built was 312 hp with some crazy *** cams. There is a mild cam called the K2 that made 303 hp.

THCK20eg on this board has a stock TSX shortblock with a type S head and it made 232/185 on a DynoJet. The only bolt on he had was a DTR header.
That's some impressive OEM power
