Default Recommendations for a shop that does good, reliable b16a1+tranny swaps in Seattle??

Hi all,

I'm looking to do a swap on my crappy old 1990 crx dx. Can anyone recommend a shop that has done a LOT of these reliably? I ask because someone i know got his done at a shop and there was some problem which ended up costing him 3k over budget (close to 5k total). I'm looking for shops that you trust, and offer some sort of warranty on their work?

Also, how much does this usually cost for parts and service? I was quoted 1500 for the whole package by someone online. Thanks!

Easy swap to do, why not do it yourself or have someone on the board that is local do it for you? Oh and gilbert at r-sports is a good guy but flakey as hell, he still owes me a pr3 ecu, and 99-00si exhaust manifold from a swap 3 years ago. I was originally goiong to have my swap done at a shop back in 99 but I decided to learn how to do it and completed it in a weekend. Honestly save yourself some cash, learn something about your vehicle and do it yourself.

Thanks for the info guys. I wouldn't mind trying this myself but, I work all day long, sometimes even on weekends, and I dont have the right facility or tools. If I had a shop do the whole project, do you think it will cost me more than 1500? How much do you think adding bigger breakes would add to the total cost? Thanks much.

Yeah, I think you should be able to find a shop that could get the swap and do the install for 1500, but I'd suggest replacing the water and oil pumps, timing belt, etc.. before installing it since that motor probably has been sitting for quite sometime. As far as the brakes go if you don't have an si I'd suggest just using CRX Si brakes or maybe brakes from a DA, I don't think that you'll need really beefy brakes with just a swap so using a 4 wheel OEM disc setup with SS lines should be just fine.

theres a "NW for sale thread" lots of people from your area on there. Make a post asking for help on there. You can problly find someone to do it for 5-800. Good luck

I would highly suggest doing the swap yourself. It really isnt a hard changeover, a bit intimidating at first, but nothing a person with average mechanic skills cant handle with a little research.
Shops rape you on labor fees! But if you have to pay a shop, I would recommend PPI in Burien. Awesome customer service and all the swaps Ive seen out of there have looked good.

Kansai Motorsports in Seattle maybe? I haven't checked them out but I'm looking into them doing a K20 into my car. Couldn't find them when I tried driving down there but that's due to me not being good with driving directions. Or lack of directions...
