Poor Man's Type-R CRX won't idle.

Poor Man's Type-R CRX won't idle.
Hi everyone, background on the car: 91 dx chassis. Used dual point harness. Did the swap myself. I've double checked my wiring for distributor with ecu pinouts through resistance testing. Brand new distributor. Freshly timed. Getting fuel and spark. Plug wires are absolutely correct.
So, heres the beef. I've run into countless problems keeping this thing from running, but I'm about stumped here. It cranks like a champ. For the past 3-4 days of cranking the car started up just enough to hear it roar, then instantly dies. Up until last night, I did not have my throttle cable hooked up. Now that it was, I could attempt to keep the motor alive with the pedal. I connected it, and started it up. I feathered the throttle a few times, it had a monsterous delay in effect, but managed to keep the motor alive a little longer. But only another 2-3 seconds (that's double my average time). As it dies, it backfires. I give it time to cool down, then crank again and it won't even attempt to start. Every time before this it was almost turn-key and on, or turn-key, hear a rotation then starts. If I had to guess, I would think my timings off, mechanically. I did not recheck for fuel or spark last night after it died. Pretty pissed off and exhausted. But I will go over to the shop today before work and see what I can get out of it in 30 minutes. Thanks guys.

Sounds like your timing is off. Any check engine lights? if so what are the codes? Got your tps and map sensor plugs mixed up?

Code 4, 41, 21 and 10 I think. Tps and map are right but i will do Ecu pinout to plug ohm test. I dont have my o2 wired yet. Thats about it.

Code 4 Crankshaft position sensor (CKP)
Code 10 Intake Air Temperature (IAT)
Code 21 Variable Valve Timing and Valve Lift Solenoid - VTEC solenoid check
Code 41 and 48 Oxygen sensor heater
get that fix then see what happens

Well for those who research this, I rewired a new distributor plug, and installed the o2 sensor. It now idles but rough. Still getting codes 10 and 14. Iat and iacv. Probably what's causing the bad idle. Though with some timing advancement thru the distributor I got better throttle response and it revs nicely up to 7500. Took it for a spin too. Doggy at low rpm but great at 3k plus. So how do I troubleshoot these? Thanks guys.

I am assuming the idle is from the iacv. How can I hardwire this to the Ecu? One from a9 to plug then otherside to ground? Same with iat...

Did a little research. Erratic idle with CEL 14 is very common. I funked up my plugs bad. So I have to wire it all to the Ecu. For iacv wiring I an going to do wire closest to the clip as a9 signal wire. Other wire goes to 12v+ accessory. If that doesn't work reverse them. I will confrm them tomorrow... Also iat goes to obd1 d15 pin on Ecu. Wire closest to pin goes to Ecu. Same with ect to whatever pin. Seems signal wire is closest to the clip. Hope I help some poor soul.

Well I wired it as I stated and it idles at 2000 and when you rev it up or pump the brakes the idle drops a little then returns. Other than that, it will idle at 2000 all day and it's drivable. No CEL either. I will reverse them and let you know if that makes a difference.
