OBD2B Y7 TO OBD2A GSR WIRING ISSUES!!!
HEY EVERYONE,
SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS IM AT WORK RIGHT NOW...
I AM CURRENTLY DOING A SWAP ON A 2000 CIVIC CANADIAN SI (SOHC VTEC)
I AM PUTTING IN A 96 OBD2A B18C GSR!
I HAVE SEARCHED EVERYTHING AND HAVE FIGURED OUT ALL THING BUT ONE! I HAVE THE B-SERIES ALTERNATOR THAT ACCEPTS A 4-WIRE PLUG BUT THE PLUG ON MY OBD2B HARNESS IS A 3-WIRE PLUG
WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS HERE ... IS THERE A WAY FOR ME TO ADAPT THE 4-WIRE PLUG OR ANYTHING?
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED
THANKS
M

I think what you're dealing with is the fact that Canadian Civic's didn't come with an ELD, which is what the ECU uses for input on how to control the alternator (4th wire that you're missing is called "Alt-C"). Which also means if you're using an ECU that is looking for the ELD input, you're going to run into problems with that code too.
I want to say you need to leave the 4th wire (Alt-C) unconnected so the alternator charges. If this wire were ever grounded, it would never allow the alternator to charge at all.
