Obd2b on an obd2a engine with obd1 ecu
Your question is incredibly vague. What is the year/model chassis ? Do you have the engine harness from this car or something else ? What ECU do you intend to use ? What year/model distributor do you intend to use ?
yes! So I have a '97 b16b jdm obd2a. The harness that I will put on will be an obd2b from a '00 civic si cadm. The ecu will be a chipped obd1, Im not sure what model it is but it was working on an obd2a engine before... For the distributor, I will use an obd2a convert with the good plug for the harness, the blue remaning wire will be for the rpm because the obd2b harness only use 8 pin.
Your engine harness distributor plug has 8 wires in it and your OBD-2A distributor will have nine. The one extra wire in the distributor will be the blue RPM/Tach wire. Connect the other eight wires color to color... including the large black/yellow wire in the distributor to the small black/yellow wire in the engine harness distributor plug. Finally, connect the left over blue RPM/Tach wire to the Tach test port wire (blue with silver bands) on the left side of the engine bay near the clutch master cylinder reservoir.
All other wiring should be the same plug styles I believe... although I must admit I am not sure if there are any differences between USDM and CADM engine harnesses... so take this information with an "*".
In the cockpit, you will need to purchase an OBD-2B -> OBD-1 ECU harness adapter to be able to plug in your ECU.
