I have a 97 civic hatch with a OBD1 b16A2 in it. I used the stock OBD2 harness that came on the car on the motor. To make the harness work with the OBD1 distributor I cut off the OBD1 plug from the b16 harness and soldered it into the stock 97 harness. The car works totally fine. As long as you wire it up correctly you should have no problems. I had to look through a couple pinouts and chiltons wiring diagrams to figure out which colored wires matched up to eachother. Some say that all they had to do was match colors but I had almost entirely different colored wires for my plugs.

Are you using OBD1 ecu or OBD2 ecu?

Yeah I bought a kenji OBD2 to OBD1 conversion harness and converted the stock 97 harness to OBD1 to use the ecu that came with the swap.
