if youi use the obd2 engine harness all you have to do is plug it up. it will pug up to the shock towers on both sides all you have to do is get you a ecu and your ready to go

i thought i read something about the civic obd2 harnesses being a 1 piece or something?

i'm planning the same swap though. would the ecu from the 99-00 si work?

so the harness out of the 99-00 si is no good for the swap?

which harness should be used? or would one of the coversion harnesses do it?

more specific:

so,
1. can i use the eg harness with a adaptor harness from hasport? would anything else have to be modified; injector plugs, alternator plug, etc?

2. or would i be able to use a obd2b integra harness since tegs and eg's are the "same" sort of? would they be 2 piece harnesses also? would i need a hasport adaptor? if so, which one?

if you could find ..........................say a 96-98 ex civic or gsr harness then they will plug up to shock towers. and you should be set to go. but if worse come to worse than just go find another dizzy and use a 92-95 ex or si harness and put it on, the bad thing bout that is your gonna have to find a obd1 alternator and change the injector plugs

would i need a 99-00 ex or teg harness? aren't 99-00 obd2b and the 96-98 obd2a?
or are the harnesses the same anyway?

if i were to find a 99-00 gsr or ex harness, would i still need an adaptor harness for the 99 si ecu? (planning on using the 99 si ecu, so does that change anything?)

just use your stock harness and add the wires for vtec and knock sensor.

if you do that you will have to do more than add vtec and knock sensor wires. you will have to change the plug on the alternator and fuel injectors and re-wire the distributor etc.........because they are all different

it has been suggested by b16vx on hondaswap that a 00 gsr harness and an obd1 ecu is the way to go... minimal wiring....

Holy cow! Misinformation abounds!

Use a 96+ USDM GSR or ITR engine harness. It'll fit the B16A2 and will plug into the Civic's shock tower plugs.

You'll have to add wires for VTEC and KS from your shock tower plugs down to your ECU.

Don't use the 99-00 Si ECU in your OBD1 car. Find a P30 or P28 and have it chipped. With the Si ECU, you'll have OBD2 related CELs that you'll never be able to get rid of.

thanks boomslang.

while your at it, is there a difference between obd1 and obd2a/b injector/ alternator/etc plugs? this other guy is saying there is no difference, but i thought there was.

There is a difference. That's why you should use an OBD2 Integra engine harness.
