OBD0 ECU question
Is it easy to place these "chips" in an ECU or is it something that is just better off being done by Xenocron or Jet? I have a stock b16a, ls tranny, with an 8lb. flywheel and 6-puck. Should I just buy a vtec controller instead?
BRE all the way.VAFCs are not junk for the limited budgets. may not be the best bet or even the second best, but i ran one in my car for the past year before i went to BRE. my 'stock' PR3 was dumpin way too much fuel and the VAFC2 did exactly what i needed it too for the time.
And to answer your question, Rogue, chips are not HARD to install but if you dont have much experience or dont feel comfortable with your soldering skills it'll be on you to decide whether you want to chance overcooking our ECU.
(and i wouldnt recommend any of these "chips" you may be looking at. i'm guessing ebay 'spoon' variant, m-gen, or something like that? i gave one a shot and it just didnt run very smoothly. after a day of driving on that ECU i threw my stock back-up ECU in and thats what i'd been using since i got my emulator and BRE)
oh, just in case anyones interested, i will socket OBD0 and OBD1 ECUs and maybe do a little converting on the OBD1's. not too familiar with all the changes necessary for automatic and stuff on the OBD1's.
but anything OBD0, whether its sockets or emulators or datalogging, i can install these components in the ECU
(that is, if anyones willing to send their ECU to some complete stranger from the forums)
peace guys
