Default No reverse

my h22a won't go to reverse for some reason--- i tried everything and still wont---when it does---it seems like its not catching---can anyone help me.

what could be wrong with it? My fifth gear also grinds every once in a while---could it be the cable?
its in a 92 cx hatch by the way

please any suggestions?

sounds like the cable is obstructed in some way, check both at the tranny and at the shifter, also check for any damage to the cables themselves

Do you have a aftermarket shifter? Try that, if not look at the cable might be binding. Are you hard on the trans. The fluid in your trans is 10-40 motor oil? Lot of times people put gear oil. Last and worst case scenario, you have a bad syncro. Which will relate 5th and R. Syncro will usually affect two gears.
