2**What kind of tranny should i get? [Cable(Y1, S1, J1)]
What kind of ECU? (PR3, PW0)
3**Im plaining on getting the hasport conversion for this swap will that give me all directions and instructions on wiring?

4**while out of the car what should i replace...i know i should replace the timing belt...and what else and what kind of car will all of this stuff come off of?

You couldn't find that in 15+ pages of B16A install threads? That's like... B16A 101.

Anyway...

1) VTEC wire runs from the ECU to the VTEC solenoid. Where you choose to run it and how is your business. I chose to use shielded wire, ground both ends of the shielding, solder the wire to the VTEC solenoid pin on the ECU harness (I forget which it is) and then solder it onto the VTEC solenoid clip that came with the engine.

2) What kind of tranny do you want? J1 = S1 pretty much. Y1 = YS1 pretty much. J1/S1 has shorter gears than Y1/YS1, so it's faster, but highway driving sucks. I have an S1.

3) PR3 or PW0, doesn't matter, get either. If it's a PW0 it could be an automatic tranny ECU, however, so open it up if you get a PW0 and make sure it's stamped "M/T". If it's stamped "A/T" you're fooked.

(Your #ing is messed up)

4) HASport conversion? I don't know. I bought the mounts from a local shop so I didn't get conversion instructions. I used instructions I found by searching the Web, and asked a lot of questions on Honda-Tech.

5) Replace as much as you want to to feel safe. Timing belt, water pump, oil, oil filter, transmission fluid (use Honda MTF), distributor cap + rotor, spark plugs (BKR6E-11 NGK copper works great) and spark plug wires (del Sol VTEC), cam seals, oilpan gasket, valvecover grommets (del Sol VTEC), injectors, throttlebody gasket, IACV, etc. Some people go so far as to do the valve seals, valvesprings, lost motion assemblies (I wish I could afford to replace mine). Do as much as you feel comfortable doing. At least do the cap, rotor, waterpump, timing belt, spark plugs, oil, filter, and tranny fluid. After you've verified it's running right I highly recommend doing a valve adjustment.

so pretty much anything off a del sol vtec will fit?

Heheh I hear you... people always say 'search' but I swear the only results you get are threads full of people saying 'search' two years ago

The additional wiring is for VTEC solenoid, knock sensor, oil pressure switch, and O2 sensor B. You can find the instructions for converting an Si harness to accept a PR3/PW0 ECU here at HASport.com.

Highway driving with the S1 sucks because at 70mph you're turning 4000 rpm in 5th gear. If highway traffic is moving faster than that, you end up cruising in VTEC.

You can do a DX-&gt;Si conversion yourself for under $60... HASport has instructions on their website (look in the Tech/Installation Instructions section of their site).

Not everything off a del Sol VTEC will work. I've been compiling a parts list for some time and here's a list of the parts that I KNOW will work for a B16A:

Sorry I should have also noted in my post above that I HIGHLY recommend you have the flywheel resurfaced and you replace your clutch before installing the engine! I also chose to replace the front and rear main seals since it was all apart anyway. HTH

just for verification...the following will be needed to be wired in
*Vtec oild pressure sensor
*second 02 sensor
*knock snesor
*vtec soenoid

but everything else is plug and play from my std motor to the b16

Std is DPFI, correct? The wiring instructions assume MPFI. If you have dual point fuel injection you need to 1) convert to MPFI, 2) convert to SiR specs.

its not really hard but it will take time.

take it easy kick back and think and work.

you can convert to SIR or SI USA does not really matter.

That depends on what conversion harness you are going with. If it's a complete DPFI to MPFI with the VTEC and knock sensors embedded then there will be little if any wiring to do.

Any 90-93 cable B series tranny will work, although the closer geared JDM tranny's and/or 92-93 GSR YS1 tranny's would be best.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">What kind of ECU? (PR3, PW0)</TD></TR></TABLE>

I never fooled with buying ready-made conversion harnesses or anything like that so I have no idea what comes with a conversion harness. I would say that they provide you with instructions, I would hope so at least after seeing the price of some of those

Anything that looks worn, gets worn or has the potential of getting worn because chances are it's worn

*** Also don't forget that since you have an STD, you will need to change the knuckles and hubs to the 88-91 DX/Si style so they will accept the new B series axles. The STD's are smaller and have a different amount of splines and will not work.

I would go with the S1 or J1 tranny. It has real close gear ratios, 4,500 RPM doing 80. But I would still recommend either one of those tranny's.

The pr3 ECU is you're best bet, more aftermarket support than the pw0, they are basically the same thing though.

You got good help on the replacement parts etc...

It looks like everything was covered but one thing you should keep in mind is to have an extra $300 or $400, something always comes up thats unexpected.

If I'm not mistaken they will not deal with wiring on the Std. model.

I can't help really you with the wiring part, the guy who put in my motor made a custom harness using a combination of the b16a harness and the stock harness.
