Default need engine swap advice

will a d17a engine fit into a 1990 honda civic hatchback? like is it possible? cuz i need a new engine and i know a guy selling that engine its form a 2004 civic

it should bolt up to your tranny but you will want to either use your 1990 wiring harness or convert to OBD-2 which the D17 uses.... either way wiring will be interesting.

however, it depends on how much the guy is selling the engine for... because it would almost seem smarter to get a different engine, maybe the D16A6, much less wiring (unless thats what you have already) and pretty cheap too, and at 108 hp its not far behind the d17, but it all depends on costs I suppose.

the engine is 1000 bucks with the tranny and ecu and axles, has 50 000 kms on it and i got a guy to put it in do u think its worth it?
