the 1.6L DOHC non-vtec engine in the 86-89 integra (im thinkin its the D16A1, but dont hold me to that) is a direct bolt-in for that car. and you can normally buy the whole car for about 600-1000 bucks, so you can also have all-wheel disc brakes, etc. a good friend of mine just took the whole wiring harness out of the teg and now his civic is teg wiring from headlight to taillight. it took him about a week, but its quick as hell. also, the engine is the DOHC non-VTEC ZC engine in Japan. good luck.

try an talk him into buying a totalled 86 integra that runs. his civ will turn into a sweet little car for cheap.

if the car is a carbed 1500s or 1.3l carb, then no other swaps you can really do. just drive the car off the cliff as 76hp (about 45-55whp, (we dynoed one)) is as much as you'll get.

if the car is Civic Si with 1.5FI motor then you can swap in a 86-7 Teg motor but much of the drive train and upgrades will be required (best to pick up a whole Teg and simply swap over everything) that includes suspension (rear discs), motor, tranny, axles, front suspesnion, ECU ++++ much more.

if you want something more exotic for your Si then there is the Hasport kit for to mount a b16a/b18c/b20 with cable tranny

for carbs another option is a Weber side drafts or Mikunis looking at around $400-1000 for a set (guarantee that you'll break into 80whp)

whoa, man we dont want them to die!! 80 hp is nutty! and if they get a whole teg, they can use any civic/crx for a base. my friend had an HF, and swapped over EVERYTHING. its basically a teg with a crx body.

While it may be a chore to go from carb to EFI, it is not impossible. And in my opinion, it would be preferable to having the extra weight of an SI.
