My friend bought a stolen engine and had installed it!!!
My friend and I had found out that he had bought a stolen engine and
had already installed it. What should he do? What will happen if he
get caught???? He was very anxious right now and didn't even want to
touch his car at all. What can he do? Tell the police???

If he has a receipt from the persone he bought it from than report it to the police and get his money back.

Why didnt your friend check the engine first? Sometimes we get wat we deserve and that sure was a rookie move on his part. It just goes to show that if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. As for what you could do.... just let the cops know and hope for the best.

possession of stolen mechandise = felony -5 years in the pig pen if caught.
go to the police ...tell them it was bought without knowing it was stolen...I'm sure they'll give him a break if he tells them where he got it...

yes... how do you know something you bought was stolen. I know there is a number on the engine.. but what happens when you buy just the head or the cams or something just part of something stolen.
Where do you find out?

I would take the engine out and turn the sucker loose. You are going to be taking a chance driving with it.
If you plead with an officer that finds you with a stolen engine you will lose your car. They will take the engine and you will loose any work you have done to it. Then you will get in trouble.
It is not worth it. Turn the seller in, hope you get your money and just be happy you don't get pinched for it.

Contact your local police department. Tell them that you want to purchase an engine, but you suspect it may be stolen. Give them the block # or VIN # and have them run a check on it. It may cost you about $20, but well worth it.
If you get busted with it, you will loose your car along with the engine until they can remove the engine. Then you have to fill out paperwork to get your car back. This could take a couple of months to recover.

Just a thought. All you need is to find a legit block to match the one you have. Since the number is imprint on the block. I think that should work, right guys ?
