my car idles rough and I don't know why!!!
hey everybody I have a 94 civic Si hatch and I put a b16 in it and it idles rough. like the steering wheel shakes even when the idle is steady and some times the idle goes up and down between 500 and 1000 rpm.
the only thing that I can think of is that I do not have an evap purge solenoid. Would not having an evp purge solenoid have these kinds of effects? or am I looking at some other problem?
Other than this the car drives great and even passed smog although I don't know how the guy didn't notice a B-series engine in a car that is supposed to have d-series haha. but anyways, thanks for any help you can give.

I take it u just finished this swap. Any cel's? Try cleaning the iac, check ur spark plugs. Look at ur motor when it's idleing, is it shaking?

I finished the swap about 3 weeks ago, I am actually about to do my first oil change.
There are no CELS the engine is not shaking but the radiator shakes a little sometimes and the oil check dipstick thing shakes also. new spark plugs and new spark plug wires. I haven't changed the distributor cap but I looked at it and it looked pretty good actually. I have not cleaned the Idle air control valve though. I will have to try that.
annoying thing is that I can only work on the car on weekends haha since I live in LA and I have to drive home to diamond bar whenever I wanna work on the car.

So the idle is surging between 500 and 1000 rpms? Does it do it when it's cold or warm or both? My idle surges sometimes cause my egr isn't working, and yeah when it goes down to 500 my engine shakes, does it shake when it's only low like 500 or is it shaky at pretty much any rpm at idle?

sometimes it is steady at 650rpm other times it isn't and other times it moves between like 500 and 1000. and from what I have read b16's don't have EGR's so I don't think that could be it. I think I am gonna try cleaning the IACV and the FITV this weekend and see what that does.
