max angle?
ok, I am considering a hybrid no one has yet done, and no one in their right mind would ever do, but I have to find out some information before I can even consider embarking upon this journey, because if it won't work, it just won't work.
does anyone have any experience with leaning an engine? as in, the engine normally sits vertical, but I would have to rotate it off of that vertical maybe as far as 20deg clockwise looking from the drivers side of the bay, would it just be a simple make sure I get the welds for the engine and tranny supports right, or would it be far too much for me to even consider and I should start cutting my car to make the nessisary room? how much lean can I go before the oil pickup tube starts sucking air? how far can I lean before the oil doesn't sit in the pan anymore? should I find an experienced honda tech and ask for some advice?
I don't even know if it will be nessisary to lean it, but I haven't gotten a chance to really look at the subject vehicle to see what I can cut out and what I need to leave alone. anyway, thanks for any and all advice anyone can give!

Aside from those things you stated, you also have to consider the shift linkage angles. Tilting the engine will tilt the input shaft for the linkage, meaning your gear lever should theoretically be positioned closer and closer to the asphalt. Stick as close to stock lean as you can...

yeah, I don't suppose it will do any harm to say that the transplant vehicle is going to be a '60s vintage bug so the whole tranny/engine will be higher off the ground. depending on how much I can move the firewall towards the front it may be a non-issue, but I wanted to make sure that if it came up that it wouldn't be an issue
I think the main thing now is to find the right bug, find the right B series motor, supercharge it and get all the linkages to work, shifter, clutch, and throttle (throttle will be the easy one though) but before I do any of that I need to do a lot of measuring, I am still not sure if the engine bay is wide enough to take the motor and the problem with that is that the sides of the engine bay are part of the structural areas of the bug... so that is going to probably be the biggest fitment issue I will run into. and I will deffinately keep this forum up to date if I deside to go through with this project!
thanks for the help!

Re: max angle? (B18C-EJ1)
that is no problem, I will leave the engine and trans facing forward and the rotation will stay the same.
if I were to bolt just the engine up to a miata (just for instance and assuming the bell housing lined up) all I would have to do is go to the rear end and flip that over onto its back, weld up a support so that it can bolt to the natural support. and that fixes that issue or I could leave it alone and go run the fastest quarter ever in reverse
edit, misspelling, probably more but it was glaring!

Re: max angle? (samagon)
Good question. I know that 3rd gen ludes are tilted a lot; actual degrees, I don't know. The bottom of the oil pan is angled so it is parallel to the ground though, I guess to keep the oil from pooling on one side of the pan.
