i have a b16a swap in an EF hatch (SI) and i'm trying to get the map sensor codes cleared. my problem is that no one can tell me the correct routing for the vacuum lines for the MAP sensor.......i'm not looking for the b16a diagram cuz i already have one.....i'm currently running the civic hatch MAP sensor but i have an LS MAP if i need to use it. any help is appreciated.

somebody pleeeeeze help......nobody seems to know the answer to this. i've been told i can use either the 89' SI MAP or the b18a1 MAP, but the b18a1 has an extra solenoid, and the plug is different. someone has to know... i found out its throwing code # 3, which is a MAP code....defectice circuit, or unplugged/defective sensor. i should probly do tests with my meter tommorrow to see what comes up... will post back later.

You can use the stock sensor. Just run a vacuume line to it from the map sensor to the port on the throtle body for it, or run it from a port on the back of the intake manifold if you have to. Just do not run it to the Evap system port on the throtle body. I have seen the metal vacuume lines get clogged with stuff and cause simmular issues to what you are having.

the evap system port on the throttle body is the one with the braided hose (stock) isnt it? i have the map running to the port near the front corner of the throttle body. also, the code its throwing is #3. it is unplugged sensor or defective circuit/sensor. everything is plugged in, so i'm thinking the map could be bad, i dont know. all i know right now is the yellow wire w/red stripe on the map plug is getting 5 volts. the other two i'm having a hard time getting a reading on and i need to test them again, but i dont really know exactly what to test for. also, i dont have a wideband, but i'm pretty damn sure the car is running very rich.....i'm getting horrible gas mileage, and when i pull the plugs theyre covered in carbon....after driving the car for a while, the carbon buildup is so bad that the engine starts misfiring under load, and i have to clean the plugs to get rid of the buildup just so it wont misfire. it also seems to be somewhat lacking on power. i dont drive the car much at all.....at least not until i get these problems cleared up.

Make sure you are getting proper power and ground to the map sensor. Test to make sure you are getting vacuume on your port. If not clean it. Then use a vacuume pump and test the map sensor to make sure it is working properly back probe the white wire with around 25" of vacuume there should be around 0.5 volt and with no vacuume there should be about 3.00 volts. If readings are off you ither have bad wiring or a bad map sensor. If readings are corect perform same test at ECU, if the test reading are diffrent then you need to repair your wiring.

thanks for the helpful info.......i just had no idea what to look for as far as target voltage. i'll test again when i get off school and see what comes up.
