LS/VTEC USERS/PROS/GURUS/ETC.
gettin rid of boost and going to all motor. my b18a has about 118,000 miles. about how much would the install cost including the head? does it matter which head is used... b16 or b18c? what should be done to the block to ensure reliability? any recommendations on quality shops in So Cal that perform the conversion? I was thinking Atomic... oh yah one more thing... will I pass smog?!?! Thanks!

Shops in FL say as little as $1100, but I don't know how reliable that set up would be.... It's prolly around $2000 installed w/ stock B16 head....
Most shops here tell me the B16 is less work than the B18c head... plus it is a couple a hundred cheeper....

to ensure your motor you should do a few simple things arp 2000 rod bolts. because ls's have horrible rods and rod bolts. if you are nt doing a big build up you can get away with stock rods but if you want a little insurance shot pein them. As far as a b16a being differnt than a b18c that is untrue. he can probably just get b16a heads cheaper. even though they are chaper I lie the better flowing b16a'b17a head(which i own myself in my ls/vtec) over the higher commpression rendering b18c head.

I thought the B17 head did not flow as well as the B18, due to square runners...?
Did you upgrade the pistons with Higer comp units as well ? Worth it ?
